Cody Wheat is originally from Utica, New York where he started dancing at Dance 10 Studio's at the age of 15. He competed for four years on both regional and national levels. He then furthered his training at Munson Williams Proctor Arts Institute with a focus in Ballet, Jazz and Tap dance styles. During his training he performed in numerous productions such as The Nutcracker, Alice in Wonder Land, and Gete Peresian to name a few. He then went on to teach for many dance studios in the area such as Dance10, The Dance Academy, and Ondrea’s Center Stage, winning numerous choreography awards for his creative and innovative pieces of work. Cody then toured with Celebrity Cruise Lines for 2 years as a Production Dancer and Dance Captain touring all over Europe the Mediterranean the Caribbean and Alaska. Cody then moved to London, England for 6 months where he trained extensively at Pineapple Dance Studio in all styles of dance and also trained at The Place Dance Studio with a focus in Ballet and Modern. Cody furthered his career as a choreographer for Mike Malony Entertainment producing shows for Celebrity Cruises and as a dancer and dance captain for Jersey Rocks at the Snoqualmi Casino in Seattle Washington. Cody had the honor of performing in the STREB emerging artist series under the direction of Ashley Walters. He was also a Dancer for Spirit productions performing at Casinos in Niagara Falls in shows such as Rocket Man (a Elton John tribute show ) Dancing Queen (a ABBA tribute show ) and The Spirit of Christmas where he had the honor of playing Santa Clause. He is also an accomplished Acrobatic instructor that has taught all levels around the state. He also participated in the work study program at Broadway Dance Center in NYC and was a company member of the modern dance company ANAHATA, under the direction of Lauren Rosenstein Olmo. Cody was dance teacher and the Artistic Director at Empire of the Performing Arts in Totowa, NJ. He is also a judge and assistant Director for Dancers Inc.Competitions and conventions. Cody has been teaching intro to dance and dance creative movement at K.I.P.P NYC College Prep for the Past 7 years and is so excited to be returning back to the Utica area to be able to share his love for dance and be able to give back to the community that helped him grow so much.
